Kangundo member of parliament Fabian Muli has called for emergency intervention by the national government to ensure reduced food prizes in the country.

Speaking in Kangundo town the legislator observed that residents in rural areas who depend on their farms produce have already begun experiencing high cost of living since their crops didn't do well this season due to insufficient rains.

“It is unfortunate that the rains were insufficient and the common mwananchi is suffering, The government ought to chip-in and find a solution to the problem at hand", said Muli.

Muli said that some residents are forced to go without food since they can't afford to buy a packet of flour at 120 shillings.

Muli, however, advised residents to plant drought-resistant crops like millet, sorghum, and green grams during short rains since they thrive in adverse weather condition.
