More than 50 students from poor backgrounds in Machakos Central Ward have benefited from a Sh 2.8 million shillings worth of education bursaries.

Speaking during the issuing of the bursary check in Machakos on Tuesday the Machakos sub-county Administrator Peter Maingi revealed that the funds had been released to aid both lower and high level of education needy students.

"Today we have issued Sh1.8 million cheque worth of bursary funds to Students in universities, Secondary and primary schools and a total of 50 students have benefited so far," said Maingi.

The administrator was accompanied by the Machakos Central Member of County Assembly Cornelius Kitheka. 

The MCA assured the residents that the students who had not received the bursaries and had applied would be considered and given priority in the next issuance. 

"I urge the Machakos County government to conduct such activities in a clear and transparent manner so as to develop Machakos," he added.

The leaders promised that the next bursary issuance of the remaining one million will be conducted soon.
