Machakos County Commissioner Anne Gakuria has challenged politicians in the county to be part of peace and security missions taking place in the county.
Speaking to the press at her office on Sunday, Gakuria invited politicians and elected leaders to partner with county security to foster peace and security.
She noted that politicians have a role to play when it comes to implementation of security strategies.
“Politicians and elected leaders should come forward and support some the security campaigns we are implementing in Machakos,” she appealed.
The commissioner said that support from the political leaders will help in proper implementation of security measures.
She urged the political class to help sensitise the people about Nyumba Kumi security initiative.
Gakuria said that through their forums and platforms, politicians can easily help convince and change people’s perception about the police.
Gakuria also asked politicians to preach unity and desist from statements that will cause disharmony.
She said that the county security officials are monitoring statements being made by politicians and will not hesitate to arrest those found to be inciting the public.
Gakuria said security officials will be conducting 24 hour patrols in a bid to deal with criminals.
She also said that police will remain on high alert following threats of terror attacks.
