The Machakos County Commissioner, Anne Gakuria has assured area residents of adequate security during the Christmas season.
Addressing locals at Machakos Town on Tuesday, the commissioner asked locals to feel free and carry on with their work without fear. She said that both the national and county governments have put in place adequate measures to ensure security is boosted and maintained.
“We will increase security patrols to effectively deal with criminals across the county hence residents should go about conducting their businesses without worry. All security measures are in place,” she said.
The commissioner noted that all security officials and personnel will remain on high alert throughout the holiday season to deal with any form of crime that may arise.
She however called on members of the public to also aid security personnel in the fight against crime and supplement their efforts.
“There is need for collaboration among all stakeholders as the war on crime cannot be fought alone by the police,” she added.
Gakuria praised the ‘Nyumba Kumi Initiative' noting that it has greatly curbed insecurity in the area and ensured order is maintained.
The commissioner at the same time directed chiefs and other security personnel at the grass root level to ensure the security policies being undertaken by the government are all implemented.
