Machakos senatorial aspirant Carlos Kioko has called upon supporters of Senator Johnson Muthama to maintain peace before, during and after the August general polls.
Speaking to the nation, Kioko said that he is aware of plans to disrupt the area’s polls in favor of Muthama, adding that the senator’s supporters are not happy with the way his candidature has been welcomed.
“I have been informed by reliable sources of plans by our opponents to cause chaos because they are unhappy with the warm reception we are getting all over Machakos. We shall not fall for this provocation,” said Kioko.
The aspirant reminded the electorate that he will not tolerate leaders who engage in divisive politics, adding that he is going to create a good relationship with Mutua for the sake of the development.
“We have witnessed politics of provocation and incompetence from the incumbent senator in the role of overseeing our county Executive. I will l cultivate a relationship of trust, mutual respect and honesty,” he added.
Earlier on, Kioko had said that the frosty relationship between the senator and county boss is among the reasons the region has continued to lag behind when it comes to matters of development.
