Speaking at a special interview with a local television station, Mutua said that the celebrations scheduled for October 20 will take place as planned at the famous Kenyatta Stadium.

"You know my number one priority when I was voted in was to renovate the Kenyatta Stadium to meet the international requirements. We are therefore ready to host President Kenyatta and other local and international dignitaries as we remember our heroes next month," Mutua said.

Mutua expressed his gratitude to the President for choosing Machakos as the next venue after Nakuru to host the National Days.

"We as the residents of Machakos are very lucky to be chosen to host the President and prominent dignitaries from far and wide as we mark this year's Mashujaa Day. I want to invite all Kenyans of good will to attend the celebrations as we commemorate our heroes. The stadium has enough capacity to accommodate everybody," Mutua added.

The pronouncement to hold the Mashujaa Day at Machakos came during the Madaraka Day Celebrations on June I at Nakuru's Afraha Stadium when the President said the two days will be celebrated outside Nairobi to exercise devolution.

It was historic that the President and his Deputy chose Nakuru for Madaraka Day in June since it is the same venue they used in December 2012 to form the Jubilee Coalition.

The President was keen to choose Machakos as Governor Alred Mutua has been regarded as non-cooperative with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. Mutua has since launched his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party which according to him he will use to defend his seat in 2017 general election.

Several Members of Parliament and Woman Representative from Machakos have also defected from Wiper to the newly launched Jubilee Party. Govern Mutua on August launched his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party which he says he'll use to defend his post in 2017.
