Outgoing Machakos speaker Bernard Mung’ata has exuded confidence that he will retain his seat for another term. The vocal speaker has said that his track record speaks for itself, adding that he deserves another chance to lead the legislators in making decisions that will change the lives of the residents.
Speaking on Saturday, the speaker said that he wants to complete projects started by his office in the last five year. He also pledged to ensure that Machakos County Assembly becomes the best in the entire nation.
“We are the ones who established the assembly from scratch,” he said, he said as quoted by the Star.
The battle for the speakers’ seat is expected to renew the rivalry between Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and MCC leader Alfred Mutua.
Five candidates have already declared their interest in the post. Outgoing speaker Bernard Mung’ata, his deputy Nathaniel Nganga and Musyoka Kala are considered as the front runner for the post. Others contesting for the position are former Kivaa MCA Alexander Kathinzi and Rita Ndunge.
All the candidate have expressed confidence that they will clinch the seat. They have also promised to bring change into the house during their reign.
