Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said that the county will employ 800 new nurses and doctors in the next financial year (2016-2017) starting July this year.

According to Mutua, adequate funds have been factored in the 2016-2017 budget to employ the medical personnel.

The governor noted that there is a shortage of medics in the county adding that his government is keen to address the shortage.

“We have set aside enough funds in the coming financial year budget to employ 800 nurses and doctors,” said governor Mutua when he addressed journalists at the county headquarters in Machakos on Monday.

The governor intimated that his government is keen to boost provision of health care services.

Governor Mutua also said that enough funds have been set aside to buy ambulances and equip hospitals with medicine and machines .

Mutua stated that his Maendeleo Chap Chap slogan will ensure that residents benefit from government services.

He added that the county government has initiated various mega projects that will improve the lives of the people and also fight poverty.

Mutua appealed to locals to support his government and shun critics who he said are envious of the development the county has been able to achieve in three years of devolution.
