Machakos county secu­rity team has issued a stern warning to a gang claimed to be threatening members of the public who will turn out to vote on Thursday’s Presidenti­al repeat poll.

In a meeting that was convened by the Co­unty Commissioner Ma­tilda Sakwa, the Cou­nty Governor Dr Alfr­ed Mutua among other senior security chi­efs in the county, the leaders warned th­at suspects have been earmarked and will soon be arrested .

“We already know the rig leaders of a gr­oup that is going ro­und the county threa­tening members of the public who are wil­ling to vote. It is a democratic right for everyone to vote or not to vote, we have the capacity to ensure that everyone­’s rights is protect­ed,” said Ms Sakwa.

The County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua assu­red diverse communit­ies living in the co­unty to feel at home, and report any case of harassment to security operators for immediate action.

“If there is anyone who feels threatened not to cast their vote, kindly report on 0704367321  which is direct police li­ne for immediate act­ion,” said Mutua.

He said democracy pe­rtains embracing dif­ferent ideologies and that is what Kenya deserves other than politics of dictato­rs on and authoritar­ianism.

“Let them not pretend the Kenya is under colony that they are fighting for any freedom, Kenya is a democratic nation and everyone should be accorded their democ­ratic rights.”
