Machakos Women Representative Dr Susan Musyoka has urged women in the county to take part in active politics.
Speaking in Machakos town on Sunday, Musyoka noted that women were shying away from active politics.
The Machakos women leader observed that women have a better chance to push for their interests if they take part in active politics.
“I want to encourage women across Machakos to take part in politics by seeking elective seats so that they can push their agenda forward,” she said.
Dr Musyoka said that the constitution has empowered women politically.
She urged elected women leaders in Machakos to empower their colleagues.
While commenting on the two-third gender rule that flopped in Parliament, the Machakos women leader urged women not to give up.
She said that the two third Gender Bill will be re-introduced so that women can have equal chances with their male counterparts on matters leadership.
At the same time, Dr Musyoka asked the Machakos government to involve women in development and leadership.
She observed that the county government has not fully engaged women in leadership.
