Machakos town MP Victor Munyaka has challenged youths in the constituency to work towards development.
Speaking at Machakos town over the weekend, the MP asked young people to use their talents and contribute towards development.
He said the youth are the pillars of the society and that they use their time to contribute towards economic development.
The MP added that the government understands the contribution of youth in development and has set in place measures to enable youths engage in meaningful work.
“I want to challenge Machakos youth to take part in development activities in order to improve the socio-economic standards of the people,” he said.
Munyaka observed that the government is giving out funds and the Uwezo development kitty to young people to start business.
He said that such funds are meant to empower young people and give them an opportunity to better their lives.
The legislator, however, said that unemployment remains a big challenge which he said needs to be addressed urgently.
He asked the government to initiate more policies that will eradicate joblessness among the youths.
Meanwhile, the MP asked Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to use his political experience to unite leaders in the Ukambani region.
The legislator said that it is the responsibility of experienced political leaders in the region to spearhead unity. “I want to ask former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka to spearhead unity in Ukambani,” he said.
Munyaka asked Makueni leaders to exercise tolerance and accept each other, saying it was the only way development would be realised.
