The youth have been urged to be productive instead of spending their time in crime and taking drugs that have led to the deaths of many.

Paul Madaraka of Madaraka Foundation asked the youth to take farming like any other worthwhile economic activity.

Speaking at Machakos Town on Monday, he said, “Many people are making their livelihoods through farming but young people see it as a dirty job."

He added: "Many of us were brought up by the income that came from farming.

The soil is the source of wealth and we ought not to shy from being associated with it."

He further advised the youth that their sunset years will depend on the efforts they will have put in their youth.

"Young people must know that their future entirely depends on them and there is nobody who will determine their fate. Let them put efforts and we will have no problem in showing the way. Otherwise, their future might just be miserable,” he added.
