Youths from Machakos county have been told to demand more from Governor Alfred Mutua next time he calls them for a meeting in Machakos town.
The call came from Mavoko MP Patrick Makau at a Cord political rally in Mlolongo town, Machakos county on Sunday.
"Karuri passengers service vehicles on Friday took our youths to Machakos town for Mutua's Youth Convention meeting for free, they were then later given Sh500 by the governor and taken back to their homes free of charge. Next time tell him you want to go to his meetings in a chopper, demand more money as hand outs at least Sh5,000 each," said Makau.
Makau said the governor was using public funds to bribe the residents as he engaged in premature politics.
"When he was asking for votes in 2013 he could not even afford bottles of soda to electorates, we Wiper party members who he has turned against are the ones who came to his rescue. Where has he suddenly gotten the money to bribe electorates, whose money is that? public funds," said Makau.
He, however, told the youth not to be cheated by the governor and instead get busy with activities that can enable them earn livelihoods and improve their living standards.
