Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has promised residents that he will ensure the county boundaries are intact.Speaking at the Dawson Mwanyumba stadium in Wundanyi during Jamhuri Day celebrations, the governor maintained that Taita Taveta will not lose an inch of its land to her neighbors."Miasenyi and Mackinnon road is in Taita Taveta. Our brothers from Kwale have lived in peace for all those years. We shall maintain peace. Taita Taveta leadership will not allow even an inch to be lost," said the county boss.Samboja said he will work with Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and other leaders from both counties to ensure the border dispute is resolved amicably."Today in the morning I called my Kwale counterpart and we are meeting today evening over the matter together with our able senator Hon. Jones Mwaruma," said Samboja on Tuesday.He said he will stand strong in defense of his people's rights saying the map shows the area in conflict is within Taita Taveta and not Kwale."We will follow the 1963 and 1982 maps which clearly indicate that the area in dispute is in Taita Taveta county. We want to get a long-lasting solution to this problem."County Assembly Majority Leader Jason Tuja said that they would not accept the revenue from Mackinnon and other areas marred by border disputes to be lost.Also present during the function were County commissioner Kula Hache and Deputy Governor Majala Mlaghui, county first lady Stella Samboja among others.
