Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago has condemned the Senate committee on Devolution for saying that governors have failed to account for Sh300 billion that were allocated to counties in the last three years.
Madango said senators should stop treating governors as children by asking them questions meant for accounting officers.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Wednesday Mandago said, the national government is more corrupt than counties.
"I am saddened when the senators say that governors cannot account for sh.300 billion, am ready to appear before the senate and account for every single cent. From National Youth Service to Euro bond Scandals, the Senate should investigate such scams where billion were lost and leave counties alone where money is put in good use," he said.
He added that senators are eyeing gubernatorial seats, which is why they are trying to depict governors in bad light.
According to the senate committee on Devolution, of the Sh700 billion that was allocated to county governments in the last three years, governors only accounted for Sh400 billion.
