Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has backed Cord’s plans to have a Madaraka Day celebration at Uhuru Park despite resistance from the government.
The opposition and government have been locked in a tussle over the rally with the Nairobi county government insisting that it has cleared the opposition to hold a rally at the historical grounds.
Speaking to the reporter on Sunday, Mr Timothy Bosire accused the government of ‘dictatorship’ and vowed to support the rally.
“I am really disappointed that this government can go to an extent of conspiring to have opposition locked out in holding Madaraka Day celebrations. We have a right to convene and celebrate the independence of our nation,” he said.
“It’s only a dictatorial government that can panic when people with good intentions meet. Kenya is being turned to an autocratic state but we can’t watch that happen. We must assemble and no one has a right to detract us,” he added.
He also accused President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government of ‘incitements’ and urged Kenyans to rally behind opposition ahead of 2017 polls.
“This government has shown how incapable it is. They are constantly inciting Kenyans and we don’t need such a government in our country. They must be voted out in case we want democracy to prevail,” Bosire said.
