Maendeleo Chap Chap has criticized the proposed Wiper party's "One Kenya" Movement announced by its leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday.
In a statement issued by the party's leadership on Tuesday, MCCP stated that Wiper Party was seeking political relevance after NASA coalition's disintegration which the Kalonzo led party was a major partner.
"The Wiper initiative of One Kenya does not offer social-economic road map for the community or the country at large but it's just a last ditch effort by the party to save it from sinking to political oblivion," the statement read in part..
Kalonzo on Monday said the Wiper Party will re-brand with a slogan, "One Kenya Movement".
He spoke at a Kamba Leaders Unity Forum in Koma, Machakos County.
The leaders said meeting convened by former Machakos senator Johnston Muthama was not all- inclusive of Kamba leaders as purported since MCCP was not invited.
Former Machakos senator Johnson Muthama however, said Kalonzo had called Governor Mutua with intention of inviting him to the leadership meeting but the latter snubbed the phone call.
The meeting convened by Muthama was attended by leaders from the three counties of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui.
There was also a representation from Nairobi county led by Embakasi South MP Julius Mawathe.
Mutua distanced himself from the meeting's resolutions stating the priority should be uplifting residents' living standards.
He said Ukambani leaders forum should be geared towards eradicating poverty in the region instead of forming tribal alliances with sole intention of ascending to political power in 2022.
"MCCP advocates for genuine unity meant to bring development to our people and not fake unity meant to entrench supremacy battles," the leaders said.
MCCP has recommended a body made up of respected religious leaders among other Kamba leadership to spearhead and run a process of such a meeting.
The leaders said the meeting should be preceded with consultations by the convenors with all senior Ukambani leaders to agree on location and agenda.
" All political parties which have presence in the region must be part of real unity deal and the meeting should prioritize development in it's agenda," the statement read in part.
The statement signed by party secretary general Stephen Kilonzo, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka and Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti stated as far as the party is concerned, the Monday meeting was a Wiper affair meant to hoodwink and exploit the Kamba nation.
