Parents have been blamed for increased Gender Based Violence (GBV) and defilement cases in Uasin Gishu county.
Maendeleo ya Wanawake Uasin Gishu chairperson Anne Kibet says most of parents opt to resolve the cases locally without following legal procedures.
Speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday, Kibet lamented that solving gender based violence and defilement cases locally was encouraging increase of the vice.
She however said the organization was working closely with other partners to ensure culprits face the full force of the law.
"We are working with other stakeholders to see to it that cases of gender based violence and defilement are minimized and one way is by ensuring culprits apprehended and taken to court so as to serve as an example to others," noted Kibet.
"If those involved in the vices would be serving jail terms the situation could be different now and this is why we are also going round encouraging parents to allow the law to take its course in an event of defilement or gender based violence," she added.
