National Super Alliance (Nasa) CEO Norman Magaya has said that Raila Odinga will be sworn in as the people’s president in 2017.
This comes a few days after the opposition postponed the swearing in of Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
The two were scheduled to be sworn in on December 12, in a parallel event to Jamhuri Day celebrations graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, Magaya has revealed that NASA has not abandoned its quest for electoral reforms and justice.
“It certainly cannot go beyond 2017, and so we are talking about this happening within the next 10 days or so. We have to end the culture of electoral impunity once and for all and in this year,” Magaya was quoted by The Standard on Sunday.
The NASA CEO said once Odinga is sworn-in, he will proceed to implement the NASA manifesto for the next five years. If he is stopped, NASA will resort to the right for self-determination.
“It’s either democracy or self-determination,” he said.
Reports indicate that Odinga flew to the Coast on Friday in preparation for a meeting with top NASA leadership on Monday.
Kalonzo is expected to arrive back in the country on Monday from Germany, where he has been attending to his ailing wife.
