Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Alex ole Magelo has downplayed rumours that he is planning to resign from his current post.
Magelo said that those imagining his purported resignation are doing so because of greed to occupy his office but added that they are wasting their time.
"I am still the Speaker and I have a lot of work to do. Our schedule has a lot [yet to be] achieved and I will only cease to be Speaker on midnight of August 7," he said on Sunday as reported by the Star.
According to the publication, a number of junior officers have been stating openly their intent to replace Magelo after the resignation.
"I can tell you I will be the next Speaker ... wait and see once Mzee Magelo quits," said a county assembly employee.
However, the speaker said, "People should stop dreaming."
He has worked at City Hall from 1992 he earned a nomination as councillor.
He was recently endorsed by a section of Maasai as the community's spokesman with Nairobi's Nominated MCA Hellen Katangie saying that he (Magelo) can be a better replacement for the late William ole Ntimama.
