The magistrate on Thursday sentenced David Waweru for indecent assault and deliberately transmitting HIV to his 12 year old daughter on January 12, 2013.

He will serve 75 years jail term.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the World Women’s day at Nyayo Gardens, the women said her judgment was a big milestone in the fight against rape.

Nakuru County first lady, Lucia Kinuthia, said that Nthaka is a great champion spearheading fight against rape and indecent assault. She called on other magistrate to follow suit, claiming that many men would learn from her judgments.

Gilgil MCA, Jane Ngugi, said that the magistrate made a bold and wise decision in her judgment.

“She analyzed and read out the facts of the case well and proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the man was wrong. This is a very intelligent woman who is ready to fight for our rights,” notes Ngugi.

Nakuru County Lands executive, Rachael Ngugi, called on more women to emulate her example. “We should be able to make decisions that we feel are right and are protecting our young girls,” said Ngugi.
