Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) chairman Professor George Magoha says KCSE exams have run smoothly since Monday last week.
Prof Magoha said the council was impressed by the smooth start.
“Despite the ongoing rains in some parts of the country, Knec, security officials and other stakeholders have conducted the examination with professionalism which we must build on during the second week,” Prof Magoha said. The Knec boss, however, revealed that a few cases where unscrupulous center managers and exam officials attempted to open the materials before the scheduled time were discovered. The cases include the of a girl candidate at Our Lady of Mercy in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi. She was found with a mobile phone at the school. A boy at Furqan Integrated School in Wajir was also found with a mobile phone, which he used to send purported examination questions to another candidate in Nairobi.Prof Magoha said the candidates have been in police custody and will appear in court today, November 13.
