Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu has said he will appoint an independent auditor from a reputable organization to re-audit the ministry of Health over the latest Sh5.3 billion  Scandal.

The CS has since claimed that the internal audit report in the ministry has discrepancies. 

Some of the discrepancies, the CS says, include the consideration of figures which had been slashed, while in other cases the figures were duplicated.

He said supplementary allocations met all legal requirements, and went through the constitutional processes before approval.

“Both the National Treasury and Parliament gave their approval for the supplementary estimates, which means all legal requirements were complied with.”

He further stated that, at the moment, there is no proof that any money was lost at the ministry, adding that all the allocations were done according to the law.
