Health Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri has affirmed his commitment and that of the government to resolve the ongoing doctors' strike.
Muraguri further dismissed claims that he was involved in underhand deals which led to a collapse of the negotiations with the KMPDU officials.
“I will use everything in my power to end the strike. I want to confirm that I have never engaged in any underhand deals with the doctors and any such allegations are untrue,” he said Wednesday during a meeting with the Senate Health Committee.
Also present during the committee meeting was Health CS Cleopa Mailu who assured the lawmakers that he will work together with Muraguri to in a bid to resolve the impasse.
Muraguri also denied allegations that he had a strained working relationship with Mailu, describing the claims as "misconceived perceptions."
“We had discussed and agreed. There was a common understanding on who should take leadership. It was a miscommunication and misconception that we were not in good terms. I know my space as a PS and how I should relate with the CS,” he said.
