According to him, 2017 will be a time to support others but he would seek public support to be Governor come 2022.

"2017 we are supporting others to be governor but you never know in 2022. Maybe it will be us," he said in Nairobi on Friday.

The 2017 race will see incumbent Evans Kidero take on a large prospective field in the Jubilee Coalition.

Those interested include Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko and MPs Johnson Sakaja and Dennis Waweru.

Water and Irrigation CS Eugene Wamalwa is also in contention as is former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.

Kamanda says he is keen on retaining his seat as MP come the next polls.

"At the moment my mind is thinking of retaining the Starehe seat," he added.

Kamanda will be seeking to become Starehe MP for the third term in his career.
