Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga is back to Jubilee Party after he defected to independence party Kanu on Wednesday.

Maina had defected to KANU at around noon after Jubilee had earlier rejected to accept his nomination papers for Laikipia senatorial seat on integrity basis.

However, the Political Parties Tribunal gave Njenga a new lifeline in Jubilee after it ordered Jubilee to allow him to participate in its nominations exercise and Njenga was quick to change his mind 4 hours later.

Njenga had sued Jubilee and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for 'acting illegally and infringing onhis political rights'.

He accused immediate former JP secretary general Veronica Maina of frustrating his senatorial bid adding that the secretariat told him Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta had directed they reject his papers until he (Uhuru) and Deputy Party Leader William Ruto say otherwise.

In Kanu, he received a rousing welcome from Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi and Secretary General Nick Salat where he warned Jubilee to get ready to vacate state house because KANU shall take the presidency in 2022.

However, after going back to Jubilee he said: “I wish Jubilee well. Tuju is of a brighter mind. He can help turn around their image than those who were there before.”
