Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has asked Kabete residents to maintain calm even as they prepare to elect a new MP following the death of George Muchai early last month.
Addressing residents at Kabete trading centre on Tuesday, Kabogo urged locals to maintain peace and calm in memory of the late Muchai.
Kabogo said residents have an enormous task to elect an MP who will represent their views just like Muchai did.
“You (residents) should remain calm and exercise peace as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) prepares for the by-election,” he said.
Kabogo described the late Muchai as a person who was committed to serve the people adding that the locals should elect a person who will continue with the legacy.
The Kiambu governor also asked the residents to shun leaders who spread hate and propaganda.
He said that propaganda will not help solve the problems facing the people especially at grass root levels.
The governor said time for propaganda and selfish politics is over and that leaders should concentrate on the issues facing the people.
Kabogo on the same note pledged to spearhead development across Kiambu County without discrimination.
He lashed out those terming him a discriminator saying they are jealousy of his development agenda.
