Thika lawmaker Alice Ng’ang’a has urged Kabete residents to maintain calm as the government investigates the killing of their MP George Muchai.

Ng’ang’a says that the government has assured to carryout quick and comprehensive investigations into the brutal killing of the MP.

Addressing the press at Thika town on Tuesday, Nga’ng’a said that the country is mourning with the Kabete people.

“We are with you (Kabete people) as you mourn the demise of George Muchai,” she said, adding that his killing has raise questions on the country’s surveillance.

Ng’ang’a added that the killing of the MP at the heart of the country’s capital city (Nairobi) puts question marks on the credibility of security agencies.

The MP alleged that the killing of Muchai was well planned and orchestrated by people who monitored his movements.

Ng’ang’a urged the Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku to act quickly and assure Kenyans of their safety.

She observed that armed criminals are moving freely despite the existence of law enforces and CCTV cameras.

“If an MP can be murdered in the full glare of cameras and security officers, what about local Kenyans,” she asked.

The Thika lawmaker at the same time urged security officers in the sub county to deal with criminals said to be causing havoc in the area.

She said the police have the responsibility to protect Kenyans. She however asked the public to work with the police to effectively combat crime.
