According to Kisii county women representative, Mary Otara, the election date should be maintained and the exercise should be done early not to hinder challenges that may face 2017 elections set for August.

Addressing the press on Monday at Suneka in Kisii county Otara said at the moment the government should hasten the exercise to keep trust on the new IEBC commissioners

“As ODM and other Opposition members we demonstrated against the current IEBC led by Isaac Hassan to quit office and now we need the new IEBC commissioners in the office early,” said Otara.

“Let the government try as much as possible and nominate the commissioners in the office early and we don’t want the date of the next general election to be moved from august to any other date,” she added.
