Speaking to the press in Garissa Town, the GWSC managing director Abdi Haji said the company was working round the clock to restore normalcy in the system.

The sewer line in Bulla Sheikh area has remained unrepaired for about a month, forcing many food vendors and residents to relocate to other sides. Food vendors are also counting losses as they have not been able to transact business in the area due to bad smell being released by the raw sewage.

Residents of Bulla Sheikh village on Friday last week held peaceful demonstrations, saying they were at risk of contracting water-borne diseases if the lines are not swiftly repaired.

However, the company director says the whole sewer system needs an overhaul.
