Kenya's Maisha Meds has managed to secure a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that will see it expand its ability to supply medication across the country.

According to the medical companies founder Jessica Vernon, they will use the funds to help build an automated reordering tool that will enable suppliers to distribute medicine, determines best medication price and allow orders to be placed directly to the individual suppliers.

The company has already received the support of  GIZ, Merck, and the Dioraphte Foundation as well as Grand Challenges Exploration to improve the quality of care provided in drug shops across rural Africa.

The company currently has a point of sale software supports over 30,000 patients monthly in 100 clinics and drug shops in rural East Africa.

Although Kenya already has access to platforms like MyDawa and Livia App, Maisa Meds is looking to boost supply chains and create a more effective market with more transparency.
