The move is meant to ensure that each of the millers sells maize flour at an agreed price as the Jubilee government seeks to low the cost of basic commodities in the country ahead of the August general elections.
"Each miller to sign a contract with the Government to ensure that the maize flour is retailed at the agreed prices," Bett said in his report to the Committee on Agriculture in the National Assembly, as quoted by Standard.
Meanwhile, A UK firm associated with business tycoon Naushad Merali has unveiled its plan to import maize worth Sh7.3 billion before the end of July.
The importation of the maize comes after Kenyans lamented about the high price in the past few weeks.
The high price of maize flour, Sugar and fuel have continued to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.
