Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and Women Representative Aisha Jumwa have poked holes in the government’s maize subsidy and the hasty completion of projects saying it is a ploy by the Jubilee administration to entice voters.

Kingi, at the same time cautioned Kenyans against re-electing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto saying the cost of living will not change if they win the August 8 polls.

“The Jubilee government has announced it will reduce the cost of maize flour to Sh90 per 2kg packet. This is bait for your votes. But once you make a mistake of re-electing them, prices will go higher,” said Kingi as quoted by The Star.

The county boss further said the national government’s hasty completion of projects barely months to the general election is questionable.

On her part, Jumwa questioned how the maize arrived at the port of Mombasa barely a day after Uhuru assented to the motion for duty free imports.

The two leaders made the remarks on Tuesday at Ngerenya Dispensary in Tezo Ward where they had gone to inspect development projects.
