Irungu has said that he has been receiving complaints from a section of the residents about the problem and with help of Nyumba Kumi Initiative he has been able to confirm the allegations.

"My team of Nyumba Kumi security members have reported to me that indeed there are some residents who have become a nuisance to their neighbours," said Irungu in his office on Tuesday.

He added: "Let me warn such residents that it is against public order to put loud music at night especially in residential areas. Loud music can make the security of this estate become a toll order for the police and other security agents. The behaviour must stop forthwith."

The assistant chief noted that all the residents have already been notified through their respective Nyumba Kumi chairpersons and also through the public noticeboard outside his office.

"No one will have an excuse when we start cracking the whip," he said.

He observed that the notorious areas have been reported to be those that are dominated by college and university students whom he said sometimes turn their houses into partying hubs especially on weekends.

"Landlords who have rented their houses to such students must tame them and ensure that there is order," Irungu added.
