The county government of Uasin Gishu will benefit from Sh900 million from the Kenya Pooled Water funding for the proposed project which will increase sewer coverage in some areas of Eldoret town.
The areas which will benefit from the initiative include Elgon View, Upper Annex, Kahoya, Upper Maili Nne, Hillside, Border farm and Kipkaren.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago welcomed the project, saying Eldoret town was rapidly expanding and it will be a big boost for them.
"We have huge population migration to town for education, business and work and we also have an Industrial park which is a mega project," he said.
The county boss assured donors of his government's commitments to see the project implemented terming it significant.
"We will work together to make sure the project is actualized, you have our full support and we are going to be transparent," he said.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to the Governor's office, Kenya Pooled Water Director Robert Bunyi said, "we want to assure you that we will be along term partner to help ensure the town plan is achieved."
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, County Secretary Peter Leley, Water County Executive Mary Njogu, Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas) Managing Director Jimmy Kemboi and the County Director of Water Robert Musungu were in attendance.
