Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has made major reshuffles in his cabinet barely six months after they were sworn into office.
In a circular sent to media houses, Sonko said that the changes would take place immediately for the smoother service delivery to the residents of Nairobi county.
"The changes should take effect immediately and the Executive Members should take their work with the seriousness it deserves," he said in the circular.
Elkana Jacob who is the deputy director of communications said that the changes were purely meant to increase the productivity of service delivery in the County.
"The governor is after effective service delivery. People should not read too much in this, it is purely to make Nairobi County more productive," said Elkana Jacob.
In the changes, Devolution county executive Larry Wambua becomes the new Environment minister replacing Emmah Mukuhi who was transferred to the ICT docket that was previously held by Charles Kerich who is the new Lands minister.
Finance Executive Member Veska Kangongo was named Devolution minister and replaced with Danvas Makori who was previously in charge of the Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries ministry.
Peter Njuguna was named new Agriculture County Executive having previously held the land docket.
Those retained was Hitan Majevdia in the Health docket, Allan Igambi as the Tourism Executive and Janet Ouko in the Education, Youth, Gender and Sports docket while Mohammed Dagane remains as the CEC in charge of Roads, Infrastructure and Transport.
