Having failed to strike a consensus between a numbers of his allies, ODM leader Raila Odinga is set to witness a mother of all competitions in governorship positions in his Luo Nyanza backyard.

The ODM primaries will kick off on Thursday with three counties lined up for the first day of competition as NEB maintained that the exercise will be free and fair.

With chaos hitting a section of the hotspots across the country, Luo Nyanza region, the bedrock of ODM is expected to showcase fierce competition especially in governorship position.

In Kisumu, former ODM Secretary General and area senator Anyang’ Nyong’o will be facing incumbent Governor Jack Ranguma, who had initially pleaded with the party to hand him a direct ticket.

Things will not be different in Odinga’s home county of Siaya, in which incumbent Amoth Rasanga will be facing businessman William Oduol.

In 2013 nominations, Odiol had narrowly beaten Oburu Oginga but the ODM Disciplinary committee handed the ticket to Rasanga, who had emerged third in the competition.

Barely a week ago, Migori aspirants led by incumbent Okoth Obado and Ochilo Ayacko, witnessed a fierce fight between their supporters. Similar situation could witness in Homabay.
