A new study has revealed that a majority of Kenyans are embracing the Okoa Jahazi service by Safaricom to borrow airtime.
According to the study conducted by Twaweza East Africa, 81% have used Okoa Jahazi to borrow airtime.
The study dubbed Sauti za Wananchi Survey Findings - Citizens' Views on Money Matters (Financial Inclusion in Kenya) was released on Tuesday.
Additionally, the study also revealed that 96% of Kenyans are using mobile money services for sending and receiving money.
“Access to credit and insurance, the ability to send and receive money simply and securely, and safe places to store any savings can help to both reduce the vulnerability of the poor and increase their productivity," said John Mugo, Director of Data and Voice at Twaweza.
