A new survey has revealed how Kenyans across the country view the health sector amid the ongoing doctor’s strike that has been ongoing for the last three months.

The survey was conducted by Twaweza East Africa between June 7th and 28th 2016.

According to the findings, 47 per cent of Kenyans feels that country’s health system is facing major problems that need to be resolved.

About 45 per cent acknowledged that the country’s health sector has problems but minor ones, while seven per cent feel that there is no problem.

One percent of the respondents said that the system is perfect.

The study further revealed that 74 per cent of Kenyans prefer visiting public hospitals.

About 16 per cent of Kenyans by the time of the survey they said it suitable for them to visit private hospitals or NGO-funded facilities.

Only one per cent stated that when sick they did nothing.

In the survey, 83 per cent of Kenyans said they were satisfied with the overall cleanliness of the facilities they visited.

On the availability of drugs, only 41 percent stated that they were satisfied with access to drugs.

It also emerged that a large number of health facilities are located in convenient places in relation to the respondents need where 70 per cent said they were satisfied.
