The race for the Mombasa County senate seat has been left wide open if the latest opinion poll by Infotrak Harris is anything to go by.According to the survey, 74 percent of county voters are yet to decide on who to elect as their senator.This means that aspirants seeking to replace Senator Hassan Omar should do their Maths well if they want to emerge the winner.In spite of this, Infotrak boss Angela Ambitho said Omar would get 16.7 percent if the elections were conducted today.“Omar’s popularity as a senator has come down after he declared his interest in the county’s top seat,” Ambitho said as reported by the Star.Omar is seeking the Wiper ticket in his quest to unseat Governor Hassan Joho in the August 8 polls. The Wiper Secretary General is followed by Hamisi Mwaguya at 1.9% while Ramadhan Kajembe follows closely at 1.7 percent.Yasser Bajaber would get 0.9 percent of the votes, the pollster stated.Aspirant Farus Hadi Rubeya's popularity stands at 0.8 percent, while Tendai Mtana's is at 0.6 percent.Mohamed Faki would garner 0.5% whereas Hishamu Mwidau and Abdula Saalam would share the spoils at 0.3 per cent.The Infotrak survey that was conducted between Friday last week and Sunday further showed that Joho would easily retain his seat if the polls were held today.His rating was placed at 62.8 per cent.It added that the ODM was still the dominant party in the county at 43.8 per cent against Jubilee's 22.9 per cent, Wiper is at 2.4 per cent.NASA controls 48.2 percent against Jubilee's 22.6 per cent.
