A recent postmortem carried out on 18 of the bodies of people who lost their lives during NASA leader Raila Odinga welcome back celebrations-cum-clashes has revealed that majority of them were felled by the bullet.
The autopsy carried out by government chief pathologist Johansen Oduor has revealed that 10 were shot while the remaining 8 were either hacked, stabbed of stoned,a process that was witnessed by several independent oversight and human right firms.
According to KTN News, Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA),Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) are some of the organizations that oversaw the process with Oduor's office revealing that 5 other bodies are lying in other morgues across the city.
This comes amid accusations and counter accusations between the government and the opposition alliance NASA with each blaming the other for the deaths.
NASA is saying that the state via the police is out to harass its supporters with the government maintaining that most of the deaths were as a result of mob justice as the supporters engaged police in running battles,a situation that later transformed into theft, vandalism and looting.
NASA has since called upon IPOA to take tough punitive measures against police officers who will be found culpable of the acts, stressing on the need for the authority to press individual charges against the perpetrators.
