Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has called for political tolerance among leadersh in Machakos County for the sake of the county's economic development.
Addressing press in Athi River town on Friday, Makau said it was high time the conflicts among various political leaders in the region stopped, to allow for effective service delivery to suffering residents.
“I call on all leaders of Machakos County to sober up and solve their issues peacefully through organised dialogue instead of the ongoing drama,” said Makau.
Makau said that the leaders cannot fight forever as their electorates continue suffering due to poor delivery of services in the county.
He noted that it was embarrassing to see the leaders fight in public though most of them belong to Wiper party, which is most dominant in Eastern region.
“It is incredible for us Cord members to push for a national dialogue with the government of the day while we (wiper members) cannot settle our own issues through dialogue,” said Makau.
The legislator requested leaders opposed to leadership of Machakos County Government to give it time to deliver services to the public.
“Kambas and Eastern region in its entirety should not get raw deal in development because their leaders are divided, Leaders and especially MCAs must put their differences aside and work for electorates,” said Makau.
He further condemned leaders who kept fault finding and critisizing leadership of the county government, arguing that it was not yet political but development time.
He said those who accused certain leaders of corruption to follow right procedure by reporting to police for legal actions to be taken to them if found guilty instead of peddling propaganda against them.
