Renowned political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has broken his silence on one of the applicant for Chief Justice position, Professor Makau Mutua by detailing a couple of reasons why the professor cannot get the job.
Ngunyi who is a known critic of Makau stated in a series of tweets that the prof's values and biases will be his main obstacle in assuming the office.
"Mutua wa Makau as Cj is a tragic political joke. He is not neutral. We don't need another activist for CJ," read one of his tweets.
Ngunyi further hit on Makau saying that he was not even sure if the lawyer is able to swear in President Uhuru Kenyatta in office if he is re-elected in 2017.
Another reason that the political scientist stated is that there is a serious doubt on Makau's level of education despite the fact that the lawyer has an impressive resume.
"Does Makau have a Ph.D. or an equivalent earned in 2 years," reads part of the tweet.
Makau's 72-paged CV created a buzz in the city with lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi alias Grand Mulla stating that he had set the bar too high for the race.
The Judicial Service Commission extended the deadline for applicants until Friday to create room for more interested applicants.
Other applicants to the post include Supreme court Judge Smokin Wanjala, High court Judges Richard Mwango and Msaga Mbogholi, Court of appeal Judges David Maranga and Alnashir Vishram and also former speaker Kenneth Marende.
