Wiper Democratic Movement party is a house under siege. The internal wrangles are threatening to split Kalonzo Musyoka’s outfit.
Members are fighting over nomination slots and there seems to be preferred candidates by the top leadership. The party leader and its Secretary General Johnstone Muthama have been faulted for fronting certain candidates.
This has forced other members including Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau to warn Muthama and asked him to leave Wiper a party for all.
Speaking at St Augustine Mulolongo Secondary School, Makau advised Muthama to treat all members equally.
Makau said, “We don’t want to be forced to support certain candidates. Everyone should be prepared to go to the people and ask for votes because there are no sacred cows in Wiper.”
This comes after Kalonzo Musyoka was accused of favoring Governor Julius Malombe at the expense of Senator Musila who is also eying the top slot in Kitui County.
His remarks during voter registration campaign that were interpreted to push for Malombe’s re-election were not welcomed by several Wiper members. Musyoka and Muthama should change tact or break Wiper.
