During this time when NASA principals are jostling to fill the torchbearer position, Professor Makau Mutua has already endorsed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the position.
Although he seems not sure of which position Kalonzo should take between the torch bearer and running mate positions, he feels either could enable NASA push Jubilee Coalition out of power come the August 2017 general elections.
All along, Prof. Mutua has through social media been touting for ODM flag bearer Raila Odinga and this endorsement is a turnaround for him even as he claims it is a notion to be "taken to the bank" in his tweets.
This adds voice to another endorsement by a political analyst, Barack Muluka last Saturday that kalonzo must be on the NASA Presidential ticket if NASA is to have a competitive stint with the ruling government.
The method to choose NASA presidential flag-bearer has been contentious with of the four main coalition flag bearers claiming they best suit the position. This poses as the main determining factor of the super alliances' chances of getting into state House after the August general elections.
Mixed reactions from Prof. Mutua's supporters are expected as this endorsement reality dawns on them.
Many claim he is not relevant in the Kenyan political scenario while others feel he is rising to the real issues of the day as the campaigns for the forth-coming general elections gain momentum.
Yet others feel he is ethnic aligned considering that Mr. Musyoka is Kamba like him.
