The Leadership of Machakos county government has been cautioned against politicizing development projects at the expense of the residents.
Addressing the press at Mavoko CDF office in Athi River town on Wednesday, Makau said it hurts to see leaders engage in premature politics as majority of residents continue languishing in abject poverty.
"It is sickening to see how majority of our people suffer on daily basis while individuals charged with responsibilities of managing public resources to improve livelihoods keep politicking," said Makau.
Makau said it is the residents' constitutional rights to be served by the government despite their political affiliations and convictions.
He accused the government under Governor Alfred Mutua of sidelining some parts of the county such as Mavoko thereby being bias in executing development projects.
Makau urged the government to be sensitive enough and consider all wards in the entire Machakos by initiating projects based on the peoples' needs.
He said it was not prudent for Mutua to be seen engaging in active politics through his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement one year before the next polls.
"It is not yet time for politics, leaders need to provide services to the residents as effective and efficient as possible so as to improve their livelihoods and reduce poverty rate in the region," said Makau.
Makau said all politicians from Machakos should be well aware of the fact that their electorates will use their development track records as score card in the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
