Ekidor said that security should not be regarded as the preserve of security officers, and therefore urged locals to join hands in ensuring that the country is always safe.

“Let Kenyans pray for this country, love one another then we will be able to make this country secure,” said Ekidor adding that Kenyans should preach peace, love and unity among themselves for the country to prosper.

The county commissioner also claimed that the country has enjoined tranquility and is being admired abroad.

Speaking in Muhoroni sub-county during a prayer meeting, Ekidor said the influx of refugees is a clear indication that Kenya is at peace, a status he urged all Kenyans to always maintain and to even nurture it further.

“Kenya is safe and why anyone caught up in conflicts in the neighbouring countries always seek refuge in our country,” added Ekidor.

He also appealed to the locals to volunteer in giving information to the police and to embrace community policing as one way of fighting criminals.

Ekidor further called upon youths to desist from indulging in alcohol and other forms of drug abuses.

“This cheap liquor will wipe out our youth and as parents we should step up and warn our children against abusing drugs and other substances,” advised Ekidor.

He concluded by telling youths that the country needs their services and indulging in drug abuse will waste their potential.
