Machakos Wiper gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to make the appointment of Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination permanent.

Matiang'i, the Education CS, was named the acting Interior docket boss following the death of the former CS Joseph Nkaissery, two weeks ago.

Ndeti termed Matiang'i a hardworking person who is equal to the task to run the ministry that is mandated with the country's security.

"We are asking the President to move CS Matiang'i from the Ministry of Education to Security. We know how he has transformed education in the country and we believe he can do the same job at the Interior docket," Ndeti said on Sunday speaking to radio Citizen.

The politician, however, warned the CS against favouring the Jubilee administration saying as a civil servant he should keep off politics.

"Matiang'i should not engage in the politics of Jubilee and NASA. He should do his job as the CS by serving all Kenyans equally," Ndeti added.

The Interior CS has of late come under heavy criticism from the Opposition alliance led by ODM leader Raila Odinga who has accused him of allegedly planning to help Jubilee rig next month elections.

"Matiang’i you must make a choice, you are a critical player. You are acting on behalf of Jubilee and pretending to be acting as the government. Will not let IEBC be manipulated by Matiang’i in the name of security. Under the pretence of security, this Matiang’i is trying to rig elections in this country,’’ Raila said recently as quoted by a local blog.
