The National Alliance (TNA) party is now demanding publication of all 'Okoa Kenya' signatures submitted by opposition Cord to IEBC for verification.
TNA in a statement said it was wrong for IEBC to verify the signatures without involving members of the public.
“IEBC cannot purport to verify signatures without involving the public as the IEBC does not have a repository of sample/specimen signatures of voters.”
“We demand that the IEBC do publish to the public the names and signatures presented to them by Cord for the people themselves to verify if indeed they appended their signatures in support of the referendum drive or if these signatures were procured fraudulently,” read a statement signed by party chairman Johnson Sakaja.
Sakaja said Cord had not denied the possibility of fake signatures in the list presented to IEBC, raising questions about the verification exercise.
He told IEBC to simply publish the names of those for the proposed referendum by the opposition, if indeed there was nothing to hide.
IEBC on Monday said it will release the results of 'Okoa Kenya' signatures verification this week.
Cord last year October submitted 1.4 million signatures of those supporting a referendum to the electoral body in a bid to change the country's leadership.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga said they resorted to the initiative after the government ignored their calls for dialogue and cautionary messages to address issues affecting Kenyans, such as corruption and high cost of living.
