Uasin Gishu County leaders have urged the national government through the Ministry of Education to make Rift Valley Technical Institute (RVTTI) a national polytechnic.
They said the institution has what it takes to become a national polytechnic.
“We call upon the Ministry of Education to elevate RVTTI to a National Polytechnic since it admits students from all over the country. The institution has been recognized in East Africa as Center of excellence by ignored in the Country,” said Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago in Eldoret town, Monday.
“The school has state of the art equipment and qualified staff, why is it being ignored while other smaller institutions are being upgraded to national status,” said Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut.
They have urged form four leavers to enroll in technical courses that will equip them with skills and knowledge to employ themselves.
“Technical education is the remedy to the unemployment among youths since it has untapped potentials that are yet to be discovered,” said Governor Mandago.
